Quentin Lake Hopes Rams Bring Back Jalen Ramsey

May 26, 2025 by Rams Nation

Jalen Ramsey, Rams

The Los Angeles Rams’ roster for the 2025 season is largely set, but there has been speculation about a potential reunion with All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey.

The Miami Dolphins granted Ramsey permission to seek a trade last month and the Rams have emerged as a possible landing spot.

The seven-time Pro Bowler spent parts of four seasons with L.A. and lived up to his reputation as a lockdown corner while helping the team win Super Bowl LVI.

During an appearance on NFL Network, Quentin Lake expressed his hope that the Rams will work out a deal to bring back Ramsey:

“We would be a tough team, especially a tough defense to beat. He knows the system, he’s familiar with the organization. Jalen is a God-given talent. Not only is he smart, he’s been in the league a long time playing at such a high level. Anytime you get to bring a guy like that back, he’s only going to add value. He is a star and anybody that you ask, he’s such an amazing player.”

Lake believes the addition of Ramsey would make an already good Rams secondary even stronger:

“I truly believe he’ll be a Hall of Famer one day, too, just because of not only what he’s done on the field, but you look at how consistent he’s done it year in and year out. I’ve seen the rumors, I’ve heard the rumors. I don’t necessarily know what’s going to happen but I hope – anytime you’ve got a guy like that that can add value to your team, especially with the guys we have already, that’s huge. Hopefully things shake out. Whatever may happen, I know guys are trying to pull strings and stuff like that, but we’ll see – hopefully in a couple weeks, or whenever it happens.”

The Rams’ secondary made significant strides last season and bringing in another veteran like Ramsey would help take the unit to greater heights.

A trade for Ramsey is not considered close at this time, but the Dolphins are likely waiting until the calendar turns to June so they could lower his dead cap charge.

In any scenario, the Rams are well-positioned to acquire Ramsey from a draft capital and salary perspective, and it sounds like many players and coaches in the organization want to see it happen.

Ramsey signed a three-year, $72.1 million contract extension with the Dolphins that is set to begin in 2026.

Sean McVay open to Rams bringing back Jalen Ramsey

Rams head coach Sean McVay also sounds open to the idea of the team bringing back Jalen Ramsey, but noted there would be a lot of moving parts to make it work.

“He’s a great player. We know him very well. We know him intimately. You would certainly never rule out the possibility of that, but like Les articulated, our focus and concentration are on this week’s upcoming draft,” McVay said.

“There are a lot of layers that would need to be worked out with a player of his magnitude and some of the different things that accompany that, but you would never eliminate the possibility of adding a total stud and a guy that can do a lot of different things, like he’s continued to do. Like he did here, like he did in Jacksonville and like he’s done over the last couple of years in Miami.”
