Peyton Manning Picks Rams’ Sean McVay As Head Coach He Would Want To Play For

January 10, 2026 by Rams Nation

Sean McVay, Rams

The Los Angeles Rams are heading into the playoffs for the seventh time under head coach Sean McVay after clinching the No. 5 seed in the NFC.

McVay has been one of the best head coaches in the NFL since joining the Rams and is often praised for getting the most out of his players.

During an appearance on “This Is Football” with Kevin Clark, legendary quarterback Peyton Manning said he would choose McVay as the head coach he would want to play for in the postseason:

“I like the way Sean is accountable each week. If it doesn’t go well, he gets up there and owns it,” Manning said. “I never see him blaming a player. He starts with himself. And I like that in a coach. And even though as a player, I always said it’s not the coach’s fault —we need to play better. But when your coach is up there taking that, I think your players play harder for you. And I just think the job, you know, he does as an offensive coordinator, play caller, while being the head coach, it’s just hard to do these days. It’s hard to be a really good offensive coordinator and a good head coach at the same time.”

Manning’s comments are similar to those of many who speak about McVay, with the common theme being that he has the best interest for his players.

The Rams struggled over the final month of the regular season, going just 1-2 in their final three games. They faced a lot of adversity but McVay never made excuses and vowed to get the team back on track.

L.A. ended the regular season on a positive note with a 37-20 win over the Arizona Cardinals and now have shifted their focus to a Wild Card playoff game against the Carolina Panthers.

Davante Adams ‘excited’ to return to Rams for playoffs

The Rams are set to get back some key reinforcements for their Wild Card playoff game against the Carolina Panthers as wide receiver Davante Adams is returning after missing the last three weeks due to a hamstring injury.

It’s Adams’ first trip back to the playoffs since the 2021 season when he was still a member of the Green Bay Packers. The veteran has been in the league for 12 years but is still looking to play in his first Super Bowl.

Now healthy again, Adams said he is looking forward to helping the Rams get over the top.
