Matthew Stafford approaching significant passing milestones

Stafford could join both the 400-touchdown and 60,000 passing yards clubs in 2025

Matthew Stafford has accomplished plenty during his four seasons with the Los Angeles Rams. Stafford is one of the NFL’s top quarterbacks and is set to join a pair of exclusive passing clubs during the 2025 season.

Only eight QBs have ever reached the 400-touchdown plateau, and Stafford is just 23 away from joining the club. Pittsburgh Steelers icon Ben Roethlisberger is the most recent to join the club, doing so in a 2021 matchup against the Packers. Currently, Matt is 10th all-time in career passing TDs, and five touchdowns away from overtaking Matt Ryan in ninth place.

Reaching that mark could get tricky. Stafford has thrown 44 touchdown passes in the last two seasons. In comparison, he tied a career high with 41 scores during his Super Bowl-winning campaign in 2021.

Last season wasn’t Stafford’s best showing, yet much of that had to do with missing his top two wideouts for the early part of the season. If the Rams can get ample production from a fully healthy Puka Nacua and free agent acquisition Davante Adams, he can get there, but it’ll be close.

The easiest mark Stafford will set this year is 60,000 passing yards. He is 191 yards—or a strong first half against the Texans—away from becoming the 10th QB to get there. Russell Wilson is the closest active quarterback behind Stafford in terms of passing yardage (13,674 yards away), but probably won’t get much closer depending on how his stint with the Giants goes.

Aaron Rodgers is the lone active player ahead of Stafford in career yardage (62,952). It’s entirely possible that the L.A. star could soon overtake Rodgers in that department with at least two good seasons.

While the Rams chase their second straight division crown, fans had better keep a close eye on Matthew Stafford as he etches his name further into the league record books.
