As head coach of the Rams, Sean McVay has played the Giants twice and has won both times. On the first meeting the Rams scored 51 points to the Giants 17. Robert Woods had a day on that 2017 matchup as he had two touchdowns with the longest being a 52 yard catch and run on a screen pass that he maximized by knifing through the defense for the score.
LA comes into this game missing Darious Williams, while New York will play with key players on the injury list which include running back Saquon Barkley and receiver Kenny Golladay. Filling in for Barkley will be Devontae Booker who had 42 yards on 16 carries and a touchdown against Dallas.
One of the key matchups to watch in this game will be the Rams Jalen Ramsey and the Giants first round rookie receiver Kadarius Toney. Toney had a big performance against Dallas recording 189 yards on 10 catches. That was by far his best game as he had only four catches total in his first two games playing. Ramsey on LA’s side, hasn’t had the same assignments that he had last season shadowing the opponents top threat but that might change with this matchup. The Giants don’t have the dynamic receiver group that the Rams do and after last week Toney might be standing out and commanding the type of attention that requires the Ram’s best. If Ramsey can shut down the Giant’s new found weapon, and the Rams offense can fire on all cylinders, then LA will likely come home with the third win against the Giants in the McVay era.
