It’s almost hard to believe how many injuries the Los Angeles Rams have dealt with on their offensive line this summer. Alaric Jackson, Jonah Jackson and Rob Havenstein are all week-to-week with injuries suffered in training camp, while Kevin Dotson also left practice early a couple of weeks ago with an injury of his own – albeit, a minor one.
Now, two other backups are battling through ailments, which is why the team signed three linemen to the 90-man roster on Tuesday.
Sean McVay said KT Leveston suffered an ankle injury in Sunday’s practice with the Chargers, though he didn’t say how long he’ll be out. Backup right tackle Warren McClendon Jr. is also playing through an ankle injury after tweaking it recently.
“We just lost – KT Leveston got his ankle in the Chargers practice. OL Warren McClendon has been pushing through [and] he ended up tweaking his ankle as well. So a lot of guys are having to push through. [We] added a few offensive linemen. We’ll get familiar with those guys. There is some familiarity with OL Conor McDermott from a lot of guys that are on our coaching staff and even some of our players. He’s a guy that [has] played a lot of meaningful football in this league. The other two guys, we will continue to get to know. I don’t know as much about them, but we’re excited to add them on board.”
McVay wouldn’t rule out any of the three injured starters for Week 1 so it’s possible they’ll all be healthy for the opener against the Lions, but the depth up front is going to be tested this preseason. Fortunately, Steve Avila and Dotson have remained healthy so hopefully they can make it to Detroit without any injuries.
