Former Rams cornerback stays in AFC
After months of speculation, the Miami Dolphins have traded Jalen Ramsey to the Pittsburgh Steelers as of Monday morning. The former Los Angeles Rams cornerback stays in the AFC; heading to the North division to suit up for Mike Tomlin’s team.

Back in April, it was reported that Jalen Ramsey and the Miami Dolphins would mutually part ways before the 2025 season. Ian Rapoport that a trade would not likely occur until after June 1st because of financial parameters affecting the Miami Dolphins cap space. Trading Ramsey before June 1st would have resulted in a hefty dead cap charge that the Dolphins simply could not afford.
The Rams were considered a realistic option because of their history with Jalen Ramsey from 2019 – 2022. During his tenure with Los Angeles, Ramsey earned two first team all pro nominations, won Super Bowl LVI, and was selected to three pro bowls. However throughout OTAs and mini camp, Sean McVay repeatedly debunked any rumors; stating multiple factors that go into those types of decisions. The Rams remained interested in the player but only for the right price.
The saga has officially come to a close now that the Steelers have acquired Ramsey’s services. As a part of the deal, Jalen Ramsey will receive a $1.5 million dollar raise in 2025.
For some, the decision to not acquire may be disheartening. The Rams defensive back room does not contain any stars and Ramsey would have instantaneously elevated the play of the group. However, for the long term, the decision to pass on Ramsey probably comes as a blessing in disguise. LA has multiple free agents coming up in 2026 and 2027 that they will need to allocate resources towards.

Fitzpatrick was originally a first round pick for the Dolphins in 2018 and will now reunite with his original franchise.
