Breaking down a rather complicated Strength of Victory tiebreaker
The Rams beat the Arizona Cardinals on Saturday, but the NFC West title isn’t theirs yet. Here is how the Rams clinch the NFC West before playing the Seattle Seahawks in Week 18:
The L.A. Rams need three of these five teams to win in Week 17:
(Teams the Rams need to win in BOLD)
All 5 teams that the Rams need to win are at home.
Rams officially need 3 of these 5 teams to win tomorrow/Monday to clinch the NFCW:
• Bills (home vs. NYJ)
• Commanders (home vs. ATL)
• Vikings (home vs. Packers)
• Browns (home vs. Miami)
• 49ers (home vs. Detroit) https://t.co/r7GDWbbyQM— Rams Bros. (@RamsBrothers) December 29, 2024
If three of those five teams win, or if 2 of them wins and one of them ties, the Rams will clinch the NFC West by Monday.
However, if that does not happen then the Rams can win the NFC West next week by either beating the Seahawks or getting other tiebreaker Strength of Victory advantages.
Right now the goal is clear:
Root for the Bills, Commanders, Vikings, Browns, and 49ers. If three of those five teams win, L.A. has won and will get the 3 seed in the NFC.
The Bills offer the greatest hope for a win because the other four matchups look rather close. The Falcons, Packers, Dolphins, and Lions all have something to play for this weekend and that means that they will bring everything they have in Week 17 to win. If three of those four teams win, it looks like L.A. will have to wait another week to settle the NFC West.
It’s not over yet, but it is close to being over.
