Coming off a disappointing Week 4 loss to the Chicago Bears, the Los Angeles Rams returned home to SoFi Stadium to take on the Green Bay Packers in Week 5.
Like the Rams, the Packers were coming off their own Week 4 loss so both teams had plenty of motivation coming into the matchup.
While Los Angeles was able to make up for a slow start in the second half and put themselves in a position to steal a win, they ultimately fell short and lost to Green Bay 24-19.
The Rams defense has looked the part of a young and inexperienced unit during the 2024 NFL season as they’ve been susceptible to opposing running backs and giving up explosive plays in the passing game. The first quarter featured Josh Jacobs running through the defensive line and scoring the game’s first touchdown.
However, Los Angeles was able to respond with 13 points in the second quarter thanks to Matthew Stafford and Kyren Williams. Williams was able to keep the offense on schedule with his runs, while Stafford kept the chains moving with short and intermediate throws.
The highlight of the day for Los Angeles was when the defense got pressure on a retreating Jordan Love in his own end zone. Love panicked and tried to throw the ball away, but was picked off and the defense returned it for their first pick-six of the season.

The Rams went into halftime leading 13-10, but the third quarter was filled with errors as they allowed the Packers to score 14 unanswered points.
Love’s biggest play of the game came when he hit tight end Tucker Kraft moving from the middle of the field to the left sideline and the latter took it to the house for a 71-yard touchdown. Later, Love connected with Kraft again on a seven-yard touchdown pass in the red zone to extend Green Bay’s lead.
Down 24-13 in the fourth, Stafford kept L.A. in the game when he capped off a 91-yard drive with a one-yard touchdown pass to Demarcus Robinson. Down 24-19, the Rams attempted a two-point conversion that unfortunately didn’t work out.
Still, Stafford had a chance to seal the game in the final minutes as he had one more drive to score. However, on fourth down Colby Parkinson wasn’t able to reel in the pass and Los Angeles would suffer a tough loss.
Williams carried the running back room with 22 carries for 102 yards and a touchdown, while Jordan Whittington once again led the receivers with seven receptions for 79 yards.
What’s next for the Rams
Fortunately for Los Angeles, they get a much-needed reprieve as they’ll go on bye for Week 6 and return to action in Week 7 at home against the Las Vegas Raiders. Like the Rams, the Raiders are also struggling to put together wins so it’ll be a battle between two teams trying to save their season.
