Harrison Mevis: ‘It Means Everything’ To Help Rams Get To NFC Championship Game

January 22, 2026 by Rams Nation

Harrison Mevis, Rams, Bears

The Los Angeles Rams survived an overtime thriller on the road against the Chicago Bears in the NFC Divisional Round as they escaped with a 20-17 victory after a game-winning 42-yard field goal by Harrison Mevis.

Mevis sent the Rams to the NFC Championship Game after Matthew Stafford led the team into field goal range on their second offensive drive of overtime.

It was easily the most important kick of Mevis’ NFL career but he drilled it with ease despite the harsh conditions and pressure from Bears fans in the stands.

Mevis said he was able to block out the noise by focusing on his approach of keeping things simple, via Wyatt Miller of TheRams.com:

“My thought process is just keep it simple. I have the easiest job out here,” Mevis said. “I get to kick the ball and they get to do all the hard running and blocking and passing.”

Since taking over as the Rams’ starting kicker in Week 10, Mevis has made 16 of his 17 field goal attempts, including 4-for-4 in the playoffs.

Mevis is thankful for the chance to kick for the Rams and believes all of his hard work has paid off:

“It means everything, and all the work that I’ve put in to get to this point, it’s pulled through,” Mevis said.

Mevis attributed his success to continuing to believe in himself and never losing confidence:

“I feel like I’m reaping the reward of all the work that I’ve done to get here and belief in myself and I feel like my confidence is through the roof right now,” Mevis said.

Mevis was released by the New York Jets prior to the start of the 2025 season before joining the Rams. He was originally part of their practice squad before getting elevated to starting kicker in the wake of Joshua Karty’s struggles.

Mevis has taken advantage of his opportunity and will look to keep it going when the Rams and Seattle Seahawks meet again at Lumen Field with a trip to Super Bowl LX on the line.

Rams’ Emmanuel Forbes Jr. & Byron Young expected to play in NFC Championship Game

Emmanuel Forbes Jr. and Byron Young sustained injuries in the Rams’ win over the Bears, but both are expected to suit up against the Seahawks on Sunday.

Forbes and Young are officially listed as questionable to play, but L.A. should have both players in the lineup when they take on their NFC West rival for the third this season.
