The Saints hired Scott Linehan on Monday
Almost 20 years after he was hired as head coach of the St. Louis Rams, and seven years after his last job in the NFL, Scott Linehan is back in the league. The New Orleans Saints are hiring Linehan to their new staff under Kellen Moore, according to Nick Underhill.
Linehan had a 11-25 record as Rams head coach prior to being fired after an 0-4 start in 2008.
The Saints are hiring Scott Linehan to their staff, according to a source.
Linehan has a ton of experience. He was the HC of the Rams. An OC for Minnesota, Miami, Detroit, Dallas. Pass game coordinator for LSU. Most recently worked as an offensive analyst for Montana.

Post-Rams, Linehan spent five years as the offensive coordinator of the Detroit Lions, where he somewhat coincidentally coached Matthew Stafford and developed him at the start of his career. Linehan joined the Dallas Cowboys in 2014, which is presumably when he got to know Moore, who was a Cowboys backup quarterback at the time.
After five years in Dallas, Linehan departed the Cowboys after the 2018 season and he has most recently had assistant roles at the college level, including LSU, Missouri, and Montana.
Linehan will be 62 when the season starts. Could he ever work his way back into being an offensive coordinator again?
