Seahawks request interview with former Rams assistant Thomas Brown
Thomas Brown’s strange journey as a coach could take him back into the NFC West and running an offense for his third different team in the last three years. The Seattle Seahawks plan to interview Brown for their open offensive coordinator position. He would be Seattle’s third recent coordinator off of the Sean McVay tree, as Shane Waldron was the offensive coordinator from 2021-2023 and Jake Peetz was the team’s passing game coordinator in 2024.
The Seahawks fired offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb but have not yet confirmed if any coaches will be following him out the door.

Brown was a running backs coach at South Carolina in 2019, his ninth season of being an assistant coach, when McVay hired him to coach running backs with the Rams in 2020. Since then, Brown has been promoted to assistant head coach, then was hired by Frank Reich to be Carolina’s OC in 2023, then was hired by Waldron to be Chicago’s passing game coordinator in 2024.
When the Bears fired Waldron, Brown was moved up to OC, and when the team next fired head coach Matt Eberflus, Brown was moved up to interim head coach.
Since leaving the Rams, Brown has been on two staffs where the offensive play caller had to be changed midseason and then the head coach was fired shortly thereafter. There have been no rumors yet of a potential reunion with McVay, and there probably won’t be, but the Bears are still considering Brown as their OC in 2025 depending on who they hire as head coach.
