Do Rams have an ‘elite’ wide receiver room?

Does having Davante Adams make the Rams wide room an ‘elite’ one?

The L.A. Rams wide receiver room featuring Puka Nacua and Davante Adams was placed one tier below the “Elite” group in Ultimate Scouting’s rankings of the best wide receiver rooms in the NFL. The Rams were in the “Amazing Unit” group with the Lions, Cowboys, and Dolphins. Do you agree with his opinion?

The only four teams to get an “elite” grade were the Bengals, Eagles, Vikings, and Bucs.

“At 7th overall is the Rams. You have Puka Nacua, who is really, really good. As a rookie he came on, then he got injured pretty early in the season (last year), came back, and was still back to being pretty productive. So you believe that Puka is kind of that stud even though he doesn’t create the most separation. Davante Adams is still a really good route runner, but definitely isn’t the same dominant number one type that he was before. This is a good situation for him though, where he can kind of be that number 1a or 1b, depending on the week, and he doesn’t have to take on the majority of coverages.

You have those two, then Tutu Atwell and there’s not much else besides that. I think Puka and Adams is a really fun duo.”

It’s difficult to argue that any team’s receiver room is as good as Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. But could Nacua and Adams be on par with DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown? Or Chris Godwin and Mike Evans?

Why not?

DeVonta Smith is teetering into “overrated” territory after posting 64 yards per game in 2024, but could he put up better numbers in a different offense?

Although Adams is among the NFL’s oldest starting wideouts now, Nacua is only 24. The Rams are also giving Tutu Atwell a fifth season to prove himself and they’re hopeful that second-year player Jordan Whittington could be another diamond in the rough.

Scouting had the Rams as the highest-ranked WR room in the NFC West, with the 49ers and Seahawks in the Good Tier and the Cardinals in the Have to Prove It tier.

Do you expect the Rams receivers to be better than expected, perhaps “elite”, or is it more than fair to say that they are a hair below the elite teams and still above most of the league?
