Can the Vikings get back on track against the Colts?
To wrap up the Sunday Week 9 slate, the Minnesota Vikings will host the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday Night Football. After starting the season undefeated, the Vikings have since lost two straight games. Meanwhile, the Colts sit at 4-4 and are looking to make a push at a playoff spot.
The Vikings started the season and undefeated 5-0, but have since lost two straight to the Lions and Rams. They’ll be looking to get back on track at home. For the most part, Sam Darnold has been playing well at quarterback and been able to execute Kevin O’Connell’s offensive system.
On the other side, the Colts have benched Anthony Richardson. Richardson has been inconsistent this season, but his benching seemed to be motivated by the fact that he took himself out of the game last week because he was tired. The Colts offense has operated more on schedule with Joe Flacco under center. Richardson’s benching may not be permanent, but the Colts will hope Flacco can lead them to the playoffs much like he did the Browns last year.
According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Vikings are 5.5-point favorites at home against the Colts. The Vikings have surprised this season and may be the better team here, but 5.5-point favorites over a team with one less win seems like a lot. The Colts offense under Flacco has been efficient. They’ve done well at keeping games close this season, losing to the Texans by three last week. The Vikings should win, but I’m taking the Colts to cover.
The Pick: Colts (+5.5)
Season Record: 12-15
