Sean McVay had the difficult task of replacing Raheem Morris as his defensive coordinator this offseason after the Atlanta Falcons hired Morris to be their next head coach. McVay only needed about a week of interviews and meetings to find his new defensive coordinator, promoting Chris Shula from linebackers coach and pass rush coordinator.
Shula has been with the Rams since 2017 and has worked his way up the chain after starting out as the team’s assistant linebackers coach. This will be his first opportunity to lead a defense in the NFL and he’ll have big shoes to fill in Los Angeles.
