Cooper Kupp, Seahawks, Agree to Contract
The 2024 season was a mixed bag for Kupp. While injuries limited him to just 12 games, he remained a productive receiver when on the field, although he never came close to matching his career-best numbers. During his time on the field, the 31-year-old recorded 67 receptions for 710 yards and six touchdowns on 100 targets. The Rams made it to the NFC Divisional Round before narrowly losing to the eventual Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles. Following the season, the Rams released Cooper Kupp thanks to his bloated contact, injury history, and the breakout of budding star Puka Nacua.
Cooper Kupp originally entered the league as a third-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Selected by the Los Angeles Rams, the Eastern Washington product quickly made a name for himself. Appearing in 15 games while making six starts, the wideout finished his inaugural campaign with 62 receptions for 869 yards and five touchdowns. He picked up where he left off in 2018, but suffered a season-ending knee injury after just eight games. Without him, the Rams made it to the Super Bowl but lost to the New England Patriots.
Kupp returned to the field in 2019 and remained a productive playmaker. Showing no signs of injury, the veteran finished the season with 94 receptions for 1,161 yards and 10 touchdowns. After another strong season in 2020, Los Angeles traded Jared Goff to the Detroit Lions for longtime veteran Matthew Stafford.
Stafford and Kupp immediately established a rapport, leading to Kupp’s complete dominance in 2021. Leading the league in receptions (145), yards (1,947), and touchdowns (16), the duo formed one of the league’s best passing attacks and combined to defeat the Cincinnati Bengals in the Super Bowl.
Since signing his rookie contract, Cooper Kupp has recorded 89 receptions for 634 yards and 57 touchdowns.
