“We’re Going to Continue to Address Things” – Eagles GM Speaks On Blockbuster Trade

April 29, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

Dallas Goedert Trade

Dallas Goedert trade rumors have surrounded the offseason, and they won’t slow down anytime soon. While the 2025 NFL Draft came and went without a game-changing trade, Philadelphia Eagles General Manager Howie Roseman didn’t give a ringing endorsement of the tight end as he enters the final year of his contract. In a recent interview, Roseman heavily implied a trade was still on the table and wouldn’t commit to him being on the Week 1 roster.

“Dallas is part of the team as we speak,” Roseman said. “Obviously, as we go forward, we’re going to continue to address things on this team, and right now, nothing further.”

Dallas Goedert is a good player, but the salary cap makes it so the Eagles might have to trade their homegrown talent. Philadelphia has one of the best rosters in football and can’t give Goedert enough work to justify his $11.76 million cap hit. With no guaranteed money left on his contract, any one of the following teams could probably get him for pennies on the dollar.

Possible Team Fits

Los Angeles Chargers

After making him play with one of the NFL’s worst supporting casts in 2024, the Los Angeles Chargers did a lot to make Justin Herbert’s life easier in 2025. The team improved the trenches with Mekhi Becton, signed a quality running back in Najee Harris, and used their first two draft picks on running back Omarion Hampton and wide receiver Tre Harris. However, the one thing they didn’t do was improve the tight end position. Los Angeles does not have a reliable tight end, and that could ultimately be the difference in winning one of the most competitive divisions in football. Dallas Goedert may be on the older side, but a trade would shore up the one real weakness remaining on this roster.

Kansas City Chiefs

Travis Kelce is returning for another season, but the veteran tight end is a shell of his former self. The future Hall of Famer wasn’t anything more than an unremarkable starter last year, and it’s unlikely the aging veteran improves in 2025. Kansas City’s offense runs through the tight end position, and a Dallas Goedert trade could give them new hope at the position. While Goedert will never match Kelce’s peak production, the present-day version would be a notable upgrade to the passing attack.

Carolina Panthers

Carolina Panthers fourth-round pick Ja’Tavion Sanders showed some promise as a rookie, but he might not be the long-term answer at the tight end position. The NFC South is wide open, and the Carolina Panthers could compete for the division title with their revamped defense, assuming franchise quarterback Bryce Young continues to improve as a passer. Seeing as Carolina didn’t draft a tight end until the fifth round of the NFL Draft, they should be able to fit Dallas Goedert on the roster as a short-term starter who can help mentor Sanders while stabilizing the passing attack in the short term.
