Rumor: Commanders Could Trade 2,000-Yard Playmaker – Top 4 Fits

June 8, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

Despite the Terry McLaurin rumors, there’s still a chance that the Washington Commanders could trade wide receiver Noah Brown. Even though the Commanders have been buyers this offseason, Bleacher Report believes it might be time to trade away some talent, and that includes Brown, who just re-signed a one-year deal to stay with the team. The Commanders probably found their long-term playmakers in McLaurin and trade acquisition Deebo Samuel, as long as Samuel could perform up to standards, and they can negotiate a new deal for McLaurin. Either way, the team drafted Jaylin Lane and brought back KJ Osborn, so this all but makes Brown expendable this upcoming season.

Originally selected in the seventh round of the 2017 NFL Draft, the former Ohio State product left the Cowboys last offseason to join head coach Dan Quinn in Washington to build a new culture. Even though things have been phenomenal for the Commanders, the same can’t be said about Brown, despite him having a few sparks, including the Hail Mary Miracle catch in defeating the Chicago Bears. The wide receiver missed some time during the campaign, so the biggest question is how reliable he can be. However, Brown looks forward to changing things around this upcoming campaign, but that’s hard to do when you have an overcrowded wide receiver room, especially when they just brought Michael Gallup out of retirement.

Brown won’t garner the best offers from these teams, but a scenery change might be what he needs to successfully be at least a WR4 to salvage another weapon unit.

Rumor: Commanders Could Trade 2,000-Yard Playmaker Noah Brown – Top 5 Fits

Potential Destinations

New Orleans Saints

Following Derek Carr’s retirement, the New Orleans Saints need all the weapons in the world to help either Tyler Shough or Spencer Rattler. Despite signing Brandin Cooks this offseason, he’s way past his prime and could use a long-term security option like Brown. The Saints plan to keep Chris Olave, but Rashid Shaheed is entering a contract year, so it’ll be interesting to see how this wide receiver unit shakes up if they acquire Brown in a possible trade.

Baltimore Ravens

Meanwhile, the Ravens have been struggling for the past several seasons, looking for reliable receiver depth behind Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman. Brown might not be WR3, but they need someone in the background now that they have veteran DeAndre Hopkins in Baltimore. He doesn’t need to get full-time duties to make an impact, as Lamar Jackson can dish out the ball to any open receiver.

Dallas Cowboys

However, no one should rule out a reunion between Brown and the Cowboys. Even though the Commanders will never trade to the Cowboys, they could get him once he’s available in free agency. CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens are the two dynamic playmakers for Dallas, but they could use some backend depth, especially if Jalen Tolbert leaves next offseason, and Brown could help fill the hole.

Los Angeles Chargers

The Los Angeles Chargers have been reluctant to get a dynamic receiver after failing to trade for DK Metcalf. 2024 draft pick Ladd McConkey can’t be the only one to have a nice set of hands. Mike Williams is washed up and Quentin Johnston hasn’t proven to be a starter, just like Tre Harris. Brown might not save the receiver issue, but could give Justin Herbet another body in the aerial attack.
