Report: Rams Urged to Trade Former Seventh Rounder

June 11, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

After an unimpressive 2024 campaign, the Los Angeles Rams could trade safety Kamren Curl before the 2025 regular season starts. According to Bleacher Report, the source believes the Rams should trade the safety since he had one of the worst seasons in his career. Originally selected in the 2020 NFL Draft, the former Arkansas product began his career with the Washington Commanders competing for a backup spot against Jeremy Reaves, Cole Luke and Troy Apke. After making his professional debut, Curl made promising strides while recording 66 solo tackles, two sacks, four pass deflections, three interceptions and a touchdown in 16 games.

Curl couldn’t replicate the same success in the following campaign, but he still put up a season-high of ten combined tackles and five pass deflections. Since the Commanders are building a new culture with head coach Dan Quinn, and even though Curl recorded a career-high of 115 combined tackles, it wasn’t enough for the Commanders to compensate for a new contract, since the new sheriff in town built around the secondary with Quan Martin and Will Harris. Curl continued to impress, but the Rams don’t have a lot of players on their roster to sell for draft picks in return. However, since they were willing to trade their first-round pick this year, they could be fine with Quentin Lake and a youngster for the safety department, while the Rams could trade Curl to these four teams.

Possible Next Teams

Baltimore Ravens

After losing Ar’Darius Washington, the Baltimore Ravens could use the depth to salvage the entire secondary unit. While they’re looking into Jaire Alexander after his release, the team is better off getting a capable safety that can help 2025 draft pick Malaki Starks. Kyle Hamilton is one of the league’s best upcoming safeties, but even he needs a capable counterpart.

Curl might not be the best available safety, but if the Rams are willing to trade him, the Ravens could bring out the best in him.

Los Angeles Chargers

The Los Angeles Chargers’ secondary unit will look dramatically different this upcoming season after losing Kristian Fulton. The team made up for it, signing Donte Jackson and Benjamin St-Juste to give the Chargers’ secondary a fighting chance. While the team doesn’t need a starting safety, they could use some more depth behind Derwin James and Alohi Gilman. Curl doesn’t have to start to make an impact, but these new potential starting three could be helpful to provide stability.

Kansas City Chiefs

Meanwhile, the Kansas City Chiefs will have to figure out how to transition from losing Justin Reid, similar to the team losing L’Jarius Sneed last offseason. While it worked out for Trent McDuffie, it’s better to safe safe and add more depth behind Bryan Cook and Jaden Hicks. Mike Edwards is way past his prime, and Curl provides more long-term relief.

Washington Commanders

However, no one should rule out a possible reunion. The Commanders are in the best possible spot to win a championship, and they should continue to strengthen the chemistry rather than destroying it. Quan Martin is playing at a high level, but the presence of Curl could make this unit explosive.
