Ravens Superstar Could Be on Trade Block After Playoff Slump – Chargers, Saints Among Top Fits

January 20, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

Ravens superstar tight end Mark Andrews could be on the trade block after his playoff slump. After fumbling the ball in the fourth quarter, Andrews was hoping to rebound but a costly drop did not seal a tie. Furthermore, this comes to a heartbreaking end for the Baltimore Ravens as they had a huge momentum over the Buffalo Bills. The Ravens will head towards the offseason with several free agents except for Andrews who may find himself on the trade block after being the subject of those rumors the past 2024 campaign.

Originally selected in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft, the former three-time Pro Bowler came into the league, spending the entirety with the Ravens, recording 436 receptions for 5,530 receiving yards and 51 touchdowns. Andrews was one of the best tight ends for helping develop the offense for Lamar Jackson but the emergence of Isaiah Likely put him on the back burner of the tight end group. Unfortunately, everything must come to an end which means this was probably his last game with the Ravens as he still has one more year left in his current deal. However, since Likely will become the future TE1 for this offense, the Ravens should use the offseason to find a trade partner for Andrews.

Next Possible Teams

Los Angeles Chargers

The Los Angeles Chargers were able to fare well this season despite finding themselves out of the race early in the playoff race. However, the team has elite quarterback Justin Herbert but they must put him in the perfect environment to excel. Rookie Ladd McConkey will be their main go-to target but Quentin Johnston and DJ Chark have been looking like journeymen. Despite that, the Chargers could trade for Mark Andrews to provide extra relief who is better than Will Dissly and Hayden Hurst combined in the aerial attack.

New Orleans Saints

It’s hard to imagine the Saints will look any different next season considering general Mickey Loomis is reluctant to build a new regime. With Juwan Johnson likely leaving in free agency, the Saints should be in the market for a new tight end. While Mark Andrews won’t solve every issue with the current state of their offense, he could give the passing game some extra juice for whoever will be the signal-caller going forward.

Carolina Panthers

Meanwhile, the Panthers finally have belief in quarterback Bryce Young despite benching him earlier this past season. After losing Diontae Johnson and Jonathan Mingo, the Panthers need another capable weapon to help sustain that faith in Young leading this offense. Tight End Tommy Tremble probably won’t come back as he will be a free agent but they got some temporary life after drafting Ja’Tavion Sanders. However, he’s still adjusting to life in the league so trading for a veteran weapon like Andrews could give Young more confidence.

Kansas City Chiefs

This is a trade that might not happen considering the history between the Ravens and Chiefs. However, this could still become a fit if the Ravens decide to release Andrews rather than trade him. Veteran Travis Kelce is aging and has been teasing he could retire. While the Chiefs will likely look for the next capable tight end in the draft, they should take a chance on Andrews if he becomes available to add some temporary life.
