The Carolina Panthers and Kansas City Chiefs are top trade candidates for Pro Bowler cornerback, Marshon Lattimore this upcoming regular season. One report still believes that the Saints could trade the veteran after being the subject of rumors this summer. However, his health remains a concern for New Orleans since he was missing a chunk of time due to injury issues at this training camp. The good news is that the Saints have enough depth at the position with Alontae Taylor, Paulson Adebo and second-rounder Kool-aid McKinstry to get by without the veteran.
So the best thing they could do is field trade calls for his services before he sustains another injury midseason. However, the source says the best destination could be the Los Angeles Rams if he were to move on to any team this year. The Rams are still looking to be a contending team since losing defensive tackle Aaron Donald and defensive coordinator Raheem Morris but Lattimore could fill that void in the secondary. However, the Rams were active in signing Tre’Davious White and Darious Williams this offseason but White has a strong case of injury history.
Lattimore is at his best when he’s healthy and if he puts up a significant campaign despite a potential losing season with the Saints, they could look to trade him fast. The Panthers missed out on the Stephon Gilmore sweepstakes this offseason after attempting to agree but he’s heading to the Vikings. They need someone to help Jaycee Horn, especially with the lack of productivity he’s been putting. However, Lattimore would be a fine temporary replacement for L’Jarius Sneed since his departure.
He isn’t on the level of his productivity but it gives guys like Trent McDuffie some relief in the secondary.

Other Potential Trade Destinations
Dallas Cowboys
The unfortunate is happening for the Cowboys again as one of the best cornerbacks, DaRon Bland will miss a couple of weeks due to an injury. However, the good news is that they still have Jourdan Lewis to be a viable replacement but he still do so much in a full season if Bland doesn’t come back to full health. No one should expect Bland to be the same this season since the injury bug is hitting Dallas again and Lattimore would be a cost-effective trade replacement if they’re struggling. Lattimore may not be in his prime anymore but it at least gives Caelen Carson some breathing room even though the Cowboys have high expectations for him.
Dallas shouldn’t rely on a rookie for depth so having a veteran presence to help Diggs and Lewis should give some relief
Los Angeles Chargers
Jim Harbaugh is establishing a physical old-school style in the team’s revamped defense this year. This means guys like Khalil Mack and Joey Bosa spell good news for the pass-rushing unit. However, the addition of Lattimore should be able to secure the secondary talent that they already have. The Chargers must understand that the AFC is going to be competitive this season in the passing game so the secondary could give the team a fighting chance. This is after the wide receivers for the Chargers are lackluster on paper so they may have to rely on their defense to make enough plays to give Justin Herbert plenty of opportunities on the field.
Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens probably have some of the best cornerbacks in the league today. However, they kept adding to the fire after drafting Nate Wiggins this past offseason’s NFL Draft. He’s already battling some injuries so they can’t rely on him for depth, especially since he’s still a rookie. The presence of Lattimore should be able to give Marlon Humphrey and Brandon Stephens a lift. Baltimore still has a strong defense despite losing Patrick Queen and Jadeveon Clowney but, surprisingly, they haven’t made many veteran moves for their defense.
However, Lattimore joining the team should give the defense some firepower to probably be one of the best in the AFC.
