NFL Insider Suggests Eagles to Trade “Chatty” Superstar – Could it Happen?

March 7, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

eagles trade aj brown

Rumors are heating up once again as NFL Insider Colin Cowherd suggest the Philadelphia Eagles Should trade superstar wideout AJ Brown this offseason. According to Cowherd’s frustrating words, he thinks the wide receiver is too “chatty” while calling out all pass catchers that have issues with their quarterbacks. He believes the Eagles will be in good hands without Brown since the team already has DeVonta Smith, Dallas Goedert and Saquon Barkley. While that could be true in a sense, the Eagles will most likely wait until the NFL Draft to use Brown as bait if anything.

Many people surrounding the organization believe the Eagles won’t be trading Brown at all. However, they were close to sending him off to a new roster last NFL Draft, but the team kept him which was the right move to win the Super Bowl to beat out the Chiefs back-to-back defending champions. Despite that, Brown has had his fair share of sideline antics after being seen reading a book on the sidelines. This came after one NFL Playoff game that the Eagles weren’t targeting him at all. This isn’t the first time the wide receiver has bumped heads but he did that with Jalen Hurts and head coach Nick Siranni.

It doesn’t look like a trade will happen anytime soon. However, plans tend to fall through as anything can happen at the right price.

Possible Next Teams

New England Patriots

If the rumors are true, the New England Patriots could be back in business to reunite Brown with head coach Mike Vrabel. The two have excellent chemistry with each other since Vrabel was disappointed when the Titans traded him when he was the Tennessee coach. With that, quarterback Drake Maye needs a new wide receiver in the worst possible way and a Brown trade could answer those prayers. Brown teaming with Kendrick Bourne could finally give Maye some consistent wide-receiving talent to thrive in the pocket.

Los Angeles Chargers

The Los Angeles Chargers have yet to find their true No. 1 playmaker for quarterback Justin Herbert. Second-year Ladd McConkey is their only set of reliable hands as Quentin Johnston hasn’t been living up to expectations. Joshua Palmer is a free agent so Brown would easily become their main spotlight. Herbert is closer to a Super Bowl than anyone thinks and a Brown heading for Los Angeles could send shockwaves across the league.

Baltimore Ravens

While the Ravens have their No. 1 wideout in Zay Flowers, the future doesn’t look promising behind No. 2 playmaker Rashod Bateman. Nelson Agholor is a free agent this offseason so they will likely sign a bargain veteran as they don’t have the financial landscape to afford a top-notch wideout. However, the team could figure out how to pay Brown for the remainder of his contract if it means pushing for an AFC Championship Game.

Kansas City Chiefs

This is the most unlikely destination out of the other four teams. However, if the Chiefs are this desperate, the team may offer a deal that the Eagles can’t turn down. The team needs at least one veteran wideout to help Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy next season since DeAndre Hopkins and Marquise Brown are free agents. If the deal happens, it should put the Chiefs back in the Super Bowl conversation for a rematch against the Eagles.

Buffalo Bills

If anything, the Buffalo Bills might pick up the phone for AJ Brown if they don’t find a capable wideout in this year’s NFL Draft. However, the team is still in the cards to re-sign Amari Cooper despite his disappointing season. A Brown trade could happen if it’s the last resort to give Josh Allen his true No. 1 answer at wide receiver.
