Jim Harbaugh is going with an interesting option for the Los Angeles Chargers’ opening at linebackers coach.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Chargers are targeting former 49ers linebacker NaVorro Bowman to be their new linebackers coach. This would be a reunion for Bowman and Harbaugh.
Bowman played under Harbaugh from 2011-2014. He earned All-Pro honors every season during that stretch. Overall, he finished his NFL career with 798 tackles, 30 pass break-ups, 14 sacks and nine forced fumbles.
A deal between Bowman and the Chargers hasn’t been finalized yet, but it’s expected to get done.
“The two sides will have to come to an agreement on a deal, but the belief is it gets done,” Rapoport said.

Bowman got an opportunity to join the coaching ranks last year. Maryland hired him to be a defensive analyst.
From an experience standpoint, Bowman should provide value to the Chargers’ linebacker room. However, there could be an adjustment period going from college to the pros.
