Former Chargers star suffers yet another injury with new team

Former Chargers standout and current Bills pass rusher Joey Bosa has reportedly pulled a calf muscle and will likely be sidelined until training camp.

After nine seasons with the Chargers (both in San Diego and Los Angeles), Joey Bosa was not retained as a free agent this offseason and he eventually signed with the Buffalo Bills in hopes of chasing a bit more postseason success as he enters the twilight of his career.

Unfortunately, his time in Buffalo has already looked par for the course from his last few seasons with the Bolts.

Per NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Bills head coach told reporters on Tuesday morning that Bosa recently pulled a calf muscle and the injury is expected to sideline him until training camp begins in late July.

During Bosa’s final three seasons with the Chargers, he played in 28 total games while starting 18 in that span. While healthy from 2022-2024, the former third-overall pick posted 52 total tackles, 14 tackles for loss, 14 sacks, four forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery.

Before moving on from the Chargers, Bosa ended his career in powder blue with 72 sacks, the second most all-time in team history behind Leslie O’Neal.

As someone who has watched Bosa for his entire career, his last three seasons with the Chargers were incredibly tough to watch, and you can only imagine what has been going through his own head during that time, as well. Our fingers are crossed this is just a minor injury and we hope he can bounce back to put together a fairly healthy campaign for Buffalo once the regular season rolls around.
