
Michael Wilhoite was the Chargers linebacker coach under Brandon Staley during the 2021 and 2022 seasons.
On Sunday night, Broncos linebackers coach Michael Wilhoite was booked into the Denver downtown jail on suspicion of second-degree assault of a police officer, per Mike Klis of Denver’s 9News. On Monday morning, he appeared in Denver County court.
The Broncos are “aware of the situation” involving Wilhoite and are “gathering more information.”

Wilhoite is in his second season with the Broncos after spending two seasons (2021-2022) with the Chargers as the linebackers coach under then-head coach Brandon Staley. The 38-year old got his coaching start with Sean Payton in New Orleans during the 2019 season as a special teams assistant.
As a player, Wilhoite played at Division II Washburn where he starred as a strong safety and linebacker. After going undrafted in 2011, he joined the Omaha Nighthawks of the UFL. In 2012, he latched on to the San Francisco 49ers where he played from late 2011 through the 2016 season. He spent his final season in 2017 with the Seattle Seahawks.
