With the playoffs around the corner, here are some scenarios that the Chargers are in line to play for heading into the final week of the NFL regular season.
Here are some key playoff seeding points the Chargers are playing for this Sunday.
5th Seed
The Chargers need to win against Denver and get some help to officially lock the 5th seed. A Texans loss to the Colts in Week 18, regardless of the Bills’ outcome against the Jets, as they would win the tiebreaker against Buffalo.
The No. 5 seed, which the Chargers earned in 2024, would mean a road game in the Wild Card Round against the AFC North champion
6th Seed
The 6th seed remains open for the Chargers. They will be at least sixth with a win in Denver.
Another way to get this spot is a Bills loss to the Jets and a Texans win over the Colts. In this scenario, the Bolts would be the sixth seed regardless of their outcome against the Broncos.
7th seed
The last scenario is the Chargers as the 7th seed. If the Chargers lose to Denver and the Bills win against the Jets, they will be the No. 7 seed.
The Bolts getting the No. 7 seed would mean a road game against the AFC’s No. 2 seed, currently the New England Patriots.
The Chargers are going to treat this game like any other game.
Justin Herbert and some of the starters will not play, and Trey Lance and the backups will see playing time in the last regular-season game.
