Derius Davis was also named to the NFLPA’s Players’ All-Pro team earlier this week.
On Friday morning, the Associated Press released their 2023 NFL All-Pro teams and Chargers fans will be happy to know that at least one of their favorite team’s player has made at least one of the squads.

After being named to the NFLPA’s Players’ All-Pro team earlier this week, Davis can now add AP Second-Team All-Pro to his resume. The nod comes at the punt returner slot once again, behind the New Orleans Saints’ Rashid Shaheed who garnered first-team honors.
As a rookie, Davis returned 24 punts for an average of 16.0 yards per attempt with one touchdown, an 87-yard score against the Jets. He also averaged 22.0 yards per kickoff return, as well.

Based on numbers alone, one could argue that Davis was actually snubbed of the first-team honor. Shaheed averaged almost 2.5 yards less per punt return than Davis while returning one more punt on the season. Both recorded touchdowns. And as we all know, Davis could have easily had one more, making himself the only player in 2023 to return multiple punts for touchdowns this season.
But alas, the Associated Press and voters on these things don’t always often get everything correct.
Still, this is another spectacular honor for the fourth-round rookie out of TCU.
