Top NFL Draft trade candidate Romeo Doubs will likely be available for a new team this offseason. According to reports, Doubs continues to float in several rumors as the Packers have a deep wide receiving group that consists of plenty of talent. Originally selected in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, the former Nevada product is on thin ice, especially when the team signed Mecole Hardman this offseason to boost competition. However, there seems to be not much room in that locker room for a wide receiver like Doubs to excel anymore.
The Green Bay Packers have been struggling to find who will be their two consistent wideouts, as they don’t know who will beat out who. Despite that, Doubs is looking at the outside of the field and should be able to attract several suitors. It’s been about the Packers potentially trading away wide receiver Christian Watson, but given his injury history, it makes more sense for the team to trade away Doubs. He doesn’t have any concerns that teams would be reluctant to ship off, and it appears the Packers could do better by releasing Watson if he has another season of inconsistency.
Doubs’ recording a 75.0 PFF receiving grade shows true potential. He could be a primary pass catcher for a unit that needs a wide receiver. Doubs will be better off joining a contender rather than staying on a team that has yet to figure out its receiving room. The wide receiver might not get off to a strong start, but these two teams could bring out a fire in him that no one has seen before.
Chiefs, Chargers Could Pounce On Top NFL Draft Trade Candidate Romeo Doubs
The Chief Dilemma
The Kansas City Chiefs might face a wide receiver crisis this upcoming 2025 season if things don’t turn in their favor. Wide receivers Xavier Worthy and Rashee Rice can’t seem to stay out of trouble, and if either one of them gets into more off-field antics, it might spell bad news for the offense of this team. Head Coach Andy Reid will probably draft a wide receiver in the draft, but they might trade for one to save this team. Even though Marquise Brown is returning, the Chiefs must find a homegrown talent that can help quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
After losing Justin Watson and DeAndre Hopkins, Mahomes will have to establish new chemistry with an incoming receiver if they get one. They will have no other choice, and a guy like Doubs could fit into what the Chiefs are looking for. Doubs is like a Marquez Valdes-Scantling 2.0 with more upside that can help Worthy and Rice in the deep routes.
More Help for McConkey
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Chargers were good last season, but they will only be great if they want to. Head Coach Jim Harbaugh can’t afford to ignore strengthening the passing game for quarterback Justin Herbert. The veteran thrives on throwing the football rather than relying on the ground game.
Despite signing Mike Williams, 2024 draft pick Ladd McConkey is still arguably the best pass catcher on this roster. He can’t do it alone, so the team should trade for Doubs to salvage the unit, who already has a depleting Quentin Johnston on the team.
