The Kansas City Chiefs are still in the market for a wide receiver, as they could trade for 49ers wideout Jauan Jennings this 2025 regular season. According to Bleacher Report, they believe the Chiefs are fit for Jennings as the 49ers are still working through a new contract. Despite giving him more incentives this 2025 campaign, he is still on track to become a free agent next offseason, and with the way quarterback Brock Purdy is going to miss some time with an injury, which could put them at risk of losing some games. This puts their playoff hopes to be sidetracked for the time being until Purdy can come back and hopefully put the 49ers in the driver’s seat for postseason contention.
If they endure a losing season, then all of the contract talk should go out the window. However, the Chiefs are the ones who are desperate in this situation for the longevity of Patrick Mahomes’ passing attack. Even though Xavier Worthy is working his way back to the team after suffering an injury, they’re probably going to limit him. This means more snaps for other receiver talent like JuJu Smith-Schuster, Marquise Brown and an unproven Tyquan Thornton.
Meanwhile, Jennings has proven to be a capable receiver in the aerial attack and would automatically improve the wideout issue in Kansas City even if it’s just one season. It’s already worse that the Chiefs are without Rashee Rice, so Jennings could easily fill the hole.

Potential Destinations
Baltimore Ravens
After their upsetting loss against the Buffalo Bills in Week 1, the Baltimore Ravens should find a way to improve the offense if they can’t find a way to win football games. They have one of the most talented wide receiver rooms in Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman and DeAndre Hopkins, but when you’re facing competitive AFC teams, you should always find a way to upgrade. Jennings wouldn’t take snaps away from Hopkins, but he would add more separation as this potential four-way threat could be one of the best offenses that the Ravens have had.
Jennings might not get as much attention in this receiver room, but he’s another body that Lamar Jackson can lean on when throwing the football to.
Los Angeles Chargers
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Chargers could use more star power in the wide receiver room. Ladd McConkey and veteran Keenan Allen are probably the only ones in this receiver unit that will stay consistent, but that all depends on whether Quentin Johnston can replicate the same energy for several weeks moving forward. While KeAndre Lambert-Smith and Tre Harris continue to develop in Justin Herbert’s offense, they should find a way to trade for Jennings before the playoffs come around.
New Orleans Saints
Why not? The New Orleans Saints have been stockpiling their arsenal for quarterback Spencer Rattler. After trading for DeVaughn Vele and claiming Trey Palmer off waivers, the Saints are answering the question of whether they’re going to finally embrace the rebuild. This is the exact response that Head Coach Kellen Moore should be heading towards. Jennings could be a solid WR2 next to Chris Olave while Rashid Shaheed works the slot routes.
