The Los Angeles Chargers signing tight end Tyler Conklin could spell the end of Will Dissly this upcoming season. According to breaking news, the Chargers are adding another pass catcher in their tight end unit while the team needs another wide receiver. Conklin may be on a one-year deal but given his performance last year, he could wind up earning the starting and a potential contract extension if he’s consistent. Meanwhile, Dissly was quiet recording just 481 receiving yards for two touchdowns so Conklin could probably compete for his starting job this season and it wouldn’t be surprising if he becomes Dissly’s replacement.
For now, the team will probably form a “1-2 punch” duo to give quarterback Justin Herbert another set of capable pass catchers despite needing a dynamic wide receiver. Dissly is under contract until 2027 but it doesn’t mean the team can’t trade him this offseason or in the future. Originally selected in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft, the former Washington product came into the league proving he was more than just a blocking tight end becoming one of the most reliable weapons for former Seahawk Russell Wilson. The tight end won’t receive the most interest but it should interesting to see who would trade for him and these five teams could.

Possible Destinations
Baltimore Ravens
There are still rumors floating that the Baltimore Ravens could trade veteran Mark Andrews. Perhaps, even though the team probably won’t release him, it doesn’t quite sign out of the fact that they may trade him. Isaiah Likely already won the job two seasons ago so maybe the focus point should be on him while they snag a reliable backup. Dissly could fill that role and they could probably trade swap between the two.
Kansas City Chiefs
Veteran tight end Travis Kelce is coming back for what will likely be his final year in the league. He hasn’t been the same elite player since last season as the chemistry was off with quarterback Patrick Mahomes. While the team did sign Robert Tonyan for depth, he and Dissly could create a solid tandem in 2026 once Kelce.
Carolina Panthers
Despite signing Tommy Tremble to a new deal, the Panthers could use another high-caliber tight end. Dissly might be depleting but given the fact that Xavier Legette and Jalen Coker are unproven as pass catchers, the team could use that veteran presence to push quarterback Bryce Young to the next level. Ja’Tavion Sanders is a future bright spot but he probably won’t have the most astonishing seasons next year.
New Orleans Saints
Juwan Johnson might be returning but it doesn’t mean the Saints can’t take another tight end. Foster Moreau has been dealing with on-and-off injury issues so they’re better off getting a capable veteran to help Derek Carr’s pass game. Since Mickey Loomis won’t rebuild anytime soon, Dissly makes sense in this situation.
Dallas Cowboys
After losing Jake Ferguson for a few games last season, the Dallas Cowboys could sign a new tight end in this year’s draft if they don’t trade for one. Luke Schoonmaker isn’t ready for full-time duties so given the situation, the team could use a veteran. Dissly won’t start but it gives Ferguson reliability behind him.
