Tre’ Harris signed with the Los Angeles Chargers.
The Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver room is in complete disarray going into training camp.
Veteran Mike Williams was placed on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) List, but shockingly retired instead. Luckily for the Chargers, they were able to come to terms with second-round rookie Tre’ Harris, who remained unsigned as part of the debacle with guaranteed draft picks.
ESPN’s Kris Rhim broke the news on social media.

Fully-guaranteed contracts have never been handed out to second-round picks until this year when the Houston Texans signed wide receiver Jayden Higgins (the No. 34 overall pick) to such a deal. That prompted the Cleveland Browns, who took linebacker Carson Schwesinger one pick earlier to give him the same guarantee.
This has other second-round picks looking for full guarantees, which is why Harris remains unsigned. However, with Williams’ retirement, the Chargers have to get on the ball with Harris.
As of Thursday, only two second-round picks from the 2025 NFL Draft had signed their contracts.

That means Chargers wide receiver Tre’ Harris remains unsigned, a topic Hortiz addressed Wednesday.
“You guys know it, there’s 30 players that are sitting out and it is what it is,” Hortiz said.
He later added: “I wish I could put a crystal ball in it, I hope it’s done soon, I hope he gets out here and practices. Practice is vital for everybody, not just him, everybody. There’s a reason we come to camp, you want to hit the ground running Week 1. Every day missed affects everyone differently, but certainly you want guys out here practicing so hopefully we have him out here soon.”
Hortiz said Harris did not report to camp Saturday with the rest of the rookies but added there’s no animosity between anyone.
“I think it’s just somebody’s got to sign and all of a sudden you have the layers,” Hortiz said. “I get it on both sides, I’m not mad, that’s the business side of it.”
Now that Harris is on board, the Chargers are in a slightly better place with their receivers, but the job is far from over.
The Chargers play their first preseason game on Thursday, July 31 at 5 p.m. PT in Canton, Oh.
