The Chargers are signing former Marshall OL Elijah Ellis and releasing OT Tyler McLellan.
On Tuesday afternoon, the Chargers announced the signing of offensive lineman Elijah Ellis. In a corresponding move, the team is waiving offensive tackle and former 2024 undrafted free agent Tyler McLellan.

The 6’4, 336-pound Ellis played collegiate at two schools, starting at Baylor before transferring to Marshall for his final season in 2024. This past year for the Thundering Herd, Ellis started all 13 games at left tackle. In the three prior years with the Baylor Bears, Ellis played just nine games total.
The rookie will now join an offensive tackle room that features Rashawn Slater, Joe Alt, and 2025 undrafted free agents Corey Stewart and Savion Washington. Veteran Trey Pipkins has played some tackle this offseason at OTAs in place of Slater, but he’s still competing for a starting role at guard at this point in the offseason, meaning most of the tackle depth consists of first-year players.
