Chargers predicted to acquire standout Seahawks WR during 2025 offseason

The Chargers could aid Justin Herbert by landing him a big and fast wideout to play alongside Ladd McConkey.

In a recent article from ESPN, a number of anonymous industry executives were asked about their forecasts and predictions for the 2025 offseason. This could involve blockbuster trades, surprise draft picks, or any move that can be executed during the next four to five months.

Not every team in the league was connected to a prediction of some kind, but the Chargers were pretty clearly a franchise that many in the league believe could make a big trade. More specifically, an anonymous NFL coordinator could actually predicted that the Chargers would make a trade for Seahawks wide receiver D.K. Metcalf who is only just 27 years old and looking for a new deal.

Now I know that sounds odd that Seattle may want to trade such a young star, but they’ve got Jaxon Smith-Ngiba who arguably supplanted Metcalf in the pecking order down the final stretch of the regular season. JSN ended the year with more targets per game and the Seahawks aren’t likely to spend big money on a guy who looks to be WR2 on their offense.

“The Seahawks can still get good value for him, and he could pair with Ladd McConkey for a good inside-out tandem,” said the NFL coordinator s “[Justin] Herbert to Metcalf would be scary. I think [Los Angeles] will be looking to help the quarterback in a big way.”

A move like this would obviously alleviate the pressure of possibly drafting another wideout in this year’s draft. The Chargers have plenty of needs elsewhere, including interior offensive line and tight end. If Joe Hortiz and Jim Harbaugh want to continue building on this already-strong foundation, they’ll have to hit on the perfect mix of draft picks and free agent signings. Only this time around, they’ll have a much, much better cap situation than they did this time a year ago.

Entering the offseason, the Chargers have $63,050,714 in cap space, the sixth most in the NFL. That’s also before they make any money-saving moves. For those who love a good and eventful offseason, that number should get you extremely excited.
