After beating the Steelers at home on Sunday night in week 10, the Chargers came to Jacksonville looking to get another win against the Jaguars.
Unfortunately, Jacksonville beat up on the Chargers 35-6 at home.
The Chargers played a very sloppy first half last week on the road against the Jaguars, trailing 14-6 at halftime.
The Chargers’ defense struggled all game long to contain the Jaguars’ running game. Even when the team was down by one score at one point during the game, its mistakes showed why it needs to fix these small things if it wants to make a deep playoff run in January.
The Chargers’ offense looked really flat, tired.
The offense didn’t generate that much momentum in the blowout loss on the road to the Jaguars.
The only offensive highlight from the game came from Keenan Allen. Keenan Allen had 135 yards of offense. Allen came up big in the 2nd quarter with a 30-yard catch. Heading into the week 11 game against the Jaguars, the Chargers’ defense had been the league’s best with a recent 3-game win streak, leading the NFL defensive EPA per play of -0.333 in that span.
The team’s defense only allowed two total touchdowns in that three-game stretch and had allowed an average of 65 rushing yards per game. The Chargers’ defense just basically struggled the entire game against Jacksonville.
The Chargers are now heading into the bye week, hoping to regroup and rebound after getting crushed in Jacksonville, as they prepare to take on the Raiders at home.
After the Raiders, the Chargers’ next 3 big “key” opponents are the Chiefs, Eagles, and Cowboys.
