Chargers edge rusher Khalil Mack was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Month on Thursday.
The veteran is having one of his best seasons despite this being Year 10 in the NFL. Mack has shown no signs of slowing down as he led all NFL players in the month of November with six sacks, two strip-sacks and three multi-sack games.
The 32 year old has also amassed 23 total tackles, five tackles for loss, five quarterback hits and three passes defended.
“This is going to be one of the top seasons he’s ever had,” Brandon Staley said earlier this week. “In 2018 when I was with him, I think he should have been Defensive Player of the Year that year. Had we not held him out of those two games, I think he would have been.
“He’s playing at an elite level, as well as I’ve ever seen him play. He looks fresh. He looks healthy,” Staley added.
Mack’s achievement in November doesn’t even highlight his impressive campaign this season. He has been a success throughout his career; however, his second year in the powder blues is proving to be one of his best yet.
