Good morning, Chargers fans!
This week, the Bolts are hosting the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday Night Football. The Bengals are 4-6 after coming oh-so close to beating the Ravens on Thursday Night Football the prior week.
After watching the offensive showcase put on by quarterback Joe Burrow and wideout Ja’Marr Chase, CBS Sports’ John Breech believes the Bengals will manage to top the Chargers by a score of 27-20.
His reasoning? He doesn’t think the Bolts can keep up offensive should their defense falter.
“This is a game that matches strength vs. strength: Will Burrow have any success against the Chargers defense? If he does, that will put the Bengals in a good spot to steal the win. If this turns into a shootout, the Chargers almost certainly aren’t going to be able to keep up. They haven’t scored more than 27 points in a single game this season and they’re 1-3 when their opponent scores at least 17 points.”
“The Chargers don’t have a high-powered offense, so if Burrow can get the Bengals offense going, it’s hard to see Los Angeles keeping up.”
Sure, the Chargers don’t have the best offense in the league, but the Bengals also own a defense that ranks across the board in the bottom half or even the bottom third of the league.
The Bengals will most likely get their big plays off, but don’t bet against the Chargers to be able to control the clock and keep Burrow/Chase off the field long enough to tick precious clock.
