The Los Angeles Chargers are considered to be one of the better teams in the league coming into the season.
The Los Angeles Chargers are inching closer to the start of training camp where they will look to take another step forward in their second year under head coach Jim Harbaugh.
After reaching the Wild Card last season, the Chargers have high expectations. The improvements they have made to the roster suggest that the team could be even better in 2025.
Bleacher Report conducted a recent power rankings where the Chargers clocked in at No. 10.
“Offensively, the Chargers went big this offseason, adding guard Mekhi Becton (6’7”, 363 lbs), wideout Mike Williams (6’4”, 218 lbs) and rookie receiver Tre Harris (6’3”, 210 lbs). Fifth-year veteran Najee Harris and rookie Omarion Hampton will bring physicality to the ground game,” Moe Moton wrote.
“Apparently, the Chargers plan to bully their way back to the playoffs, and they’re built to snatch the AFC West crown away from the Kansas City Chiefs, who have won the division for nine consecutive seasons.
“In Year 1 under head coach Jim Harbaugh, the Chargers won 11 games and went to the playoffs with the No. 1-scoring defense and an offense that ranked 11th in scoring. With the additions on the offensive side of the ball, look for Los Angeles to compete for the No. 1 seed in the AFC.”
The teams that ranked ahead of the Chargers were the Green Bay Packers, Los Angeles Rams, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Washington Commanders, Detroit Lions, Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles.
Based on these rankings, the Chargers are the fourth-best team in the AFC behind the usual suspects in the Chiefs, Bills and Ravens. They are the top tier of teams in the AFC, and as of now, that’s who the Chargers are chasing.
The Chargers will run their own race, but the goal should be to end up where those teams are by season’s end.
