Joey Bosa played 55 snaps, by far the most he’s logged for the Chargers since Week 1.
The Chargers seemed like they got big plays from almost everyone on the team. When you look at the snap counts, many players contributed to their win over the Bengals, even if it was just a few snaps here and there.
Let’s go ahead and take a look at the numbers to see if there’s anything else we can glean from this week’s snap share.
Offense
The Chargers went really big personnel-wise against the Bengals.
Seven total offensive lineman saw snaps against Cincy with Jamaree Salyer and Sam Mustipher earning four and three snaps, respectively. With Hayden Hurst out, Jim Harbaigh utilized Tucker Fisk quite a bit as he played over a third of the snaps as the team’s TE2/FB2.
The entire run game was not what they hoped it would be until the late touchdown by Dobbins so it’s no surprise that Edwards only saw 11 snaps on the night.
Despite leading the team in receptions and yards, Ladd McConkey (73 percent) was third in snaps among wideouts as Johnston (82 percent) and Palmer (76 percent) both earned more.
Defense
In a game that came all the way down to the wire, Daiyan Henley and Derwin James did not miss a single snap. Alohi Gilman was close behind them with 96 percent of snaps played with Elijah Molden playing 89 percent. Jesse Minter loves this safety trio.
Without Khalil Mack being available, Tuli Tuipulotu led the way for all edge rushers with 84 percent of the snaps. Joey Bosa did see an increase in snaps like he expected as he played 55, by far the most in a game since he injured his hip.
Morgan Fox was your snap leader for interior defenders with 56 percent. Poona Ford was right behind him at 54 percent. The latter recorded a sack and had another impactful day. Teair Tart played 25 snaps and came up with a massive tackle for loss on a pivotal play.
Denzel Perryman left the game early with an injury so Troy Dye stepped in to play 27 total snaps.
Special Teams
Nick Niemann continues to be the standard for Chargers special teams players. Shaw Quarterman had himself a “wow” moment when he laid out a Bengals return man in a manner I haven’t seen in some time.
J.K. Scott was a bit inconsistent with a 32-yard that did not come at a great time. Cameron Dicker was perfect on the night.
