“But Hey, You Never Know” – Could Top Bears Free Agent Sign Soon?

June 17, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

After salvaging their entire offense this offseason, the Chicago Bears are not bringing back Keenan Allen, but the veteran could sign with a team before NFL Training Camp. According to a source, Allen has no desire to join the Pittsburgh Steelers this upcoming campaign. During a recent livestream, he suggested that he’s open to other options, while not completely closing the door on the team. Allen has an interest in playing for veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers, but didn’t say yes to playing with the Steelers.

Originally selected in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft, the former six-time Pro Bowler hasn’t had a lot of luck receiving interest from teams other than the potential reunion rumors that the Los Angeles Chargers are looking into. It’s easy to see why Allen hasn’t been able to garner much interest from teams since he wasn’t the same everyone once remembered as a standout wide receiver after posting just 70 receptions for 744 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. After his trade to the Bears this past offseason, there wasn’t much chemistry between him and Bears quarterback Caleb Williams, so it was easy for the two to part ways and build a legitimate long-term receiver room for Chicago. Allen may have had bad luck in getting teams to take a look at him, but he could sign at least a one-year deal with these five teams.

Could Top Bears Free Agent Keenan Allen Sign Soon? – 5 Possible Fits

Possible Destinations

Dallas Cowboys

Despite trading for George Pickens this offseason, it wouldn’t hurt to sign another wide receiver. While the team could sign Amari Cooper as their last crown jewel piece behind CeeDee Lamb and Pickens, they might consider bringing in Keenan Allen. He isn’t going to drastically change the offensive passing game, but he has enough juice to make the Cowboys one of the NFC threats in the league.

Baltimore Ravens

Meanwhile, the same case can be said about the Baltimore Ravens, but they never fail to get some type of life out of a veteran. Even though Nelson Agholor is still a free agent, it doesn’t look like he’ll return in the wake of signing DeAndre Hopkins. If they pair Allen with Hopkins to help Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman, the Ravens should be in good shape to win a possible Super Bowl.

Kansas City Chiefs

Following a disastrous end to their Super Bowl journey, it’s time for the Kansas City Chiefs to seek vengeance. The team hasn’t added anyone new in their receiver room other than re-signing Marquise Brown. Perhaps, they could sign Allen to a one-year deal to create some separation in the aerial attack between Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy.

New Orleans Saints

However, since the Saints endured probably the worst offseason following Derek Carr’s retirement, it might be best to stack up on offensive weapons. Between Tyler Shough and Spencer Rattler, these two aren’t taking the team to a postseason, but with the addition of Allen to join a fiery group of Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed, he could solidify this group that already contains veteran Brandin Cooks.

New England Patriots

The New England Patriots are in a rebuilding era under head coach Mike Vrabel to help quarterback Drake Maye be put in the best position. After signing Stefon Diggs and Mack Hollins, it’s clear that these two will have the starting jobs ahead of Kendrick Bourne, but they could use one more consistent receiver in an already deep wideout group. Allen, Diggs, Hollins and Bourne as the new Fatal Four could be one of the most dangerous groups in football since the Tom Brady era.
