Since drafting a wide receiver in the third round of this year’s draft, there’s a possibility the Minnesota Vikings could trade breakout star Jordan Addison before the regular season. Max Dible of Heavy Sports believes Addison could be a potential trade candidate, as he could become replaceable after drafting Tai Felton, so there’s a possibility the Vikings might be willing to move. It’s hard to imagine the Vikings would trade Addison, being that he had back-to-back explosive seasons at just 23 years old.
However, they might not have a choice two years from now when he’s eligible for a contract extension. They just gave one of the best playmakers in NFL history, Justin Jefferson, this offseason, so that complicates the deals for other wideouts that will enter their contract year. If the Vikings want to play the safe game, they could trade Addison before the start of the season to fetch the best available draft capital that a team has to offer. Originally selected in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft, the former Pittsburgh and USC product became one of the best slot receivers, pairing with Jefferson in the aerial attack, which is why former quarterback Sam Darnold saw a ton of success in his comeback 2024 campaign.
After recording 133 passes for 1,786 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns through two seasons, he could be a hot trade candidate. Addison is still facing a case due to an alleged DUI incident, it makes why they got Tai Felton. However, these four teams could take a chance on Addison since he’s on a rookie contract anyway.

Possible Destinations
Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys might not be done adding talent for quarterback Dak Prescott. After trading for George Pickens, the team should be in a position to get another receiver. While they’re into a reunion with Amari Cooper, he’s aging, and they might be better off getting a capable WR3 like Addison to help CeeDee Lamb and Pickens in the aerial attack. Prescott would have three explosive weapons to lean on and a blockbuster tight end like Jake Ferguson.
Los Angeles Chargers
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Chargers are now the most desperate for a wideout. They could take a chance on Addison since he’s still on a rookie deal. Quentin Johnston is facing a release before the season starts, and Mike Williams is past his prime, so Addison is the perfect answer to help 2024 draft pick Ladd McConkey in the air attack.
Jacksonville Jaguars
Since releasing Gabe Davis, the Jaguars should put quarterback Trevor Lawrence in the best position to win a football game. They’ve done well drafting Travis Hunter as a true No. 1 receiver to pair with breakout star Brian Thomas Jr., so the ceiling is already high in Jacksonville. Addison could bolster this unit as a fiery replacement.
Kansas City Chiefs
It’s an interesting time for the Kansas City Chiefs as they’re still building the long-term stability for the wide receiver core group. Marquise Brown is coming back, but it’s just for one year to prove his value and will likely sign elsewhere in 2026. Obviously, Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy are the keystone playmakers for this offense, and Addison could be the third mainstay weapon.
