BREAKING: Titans Could Trade $76 Million Bust

August 10, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

The Tennessee Titans spent big on cornerback L’Jarius Sneed last year, but one analyst believes they could trade him after one disastrous season. A fourth-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, Sneed quickly became a key piece of the Kansas City Chiefs’ secondary and played an instrumental role in helping the organization take home two Lombardi trophies. After retaining his rights with the franchise tag, the Titans had to surrender a third-round pick just for the opportunity to give him a four-year, $76.1 million contract.

So far, that investment has not paid off. Injuries limited him to just five games last year, and Sneed looked horrible in his limited time on the field. According to Pro Football Focus, his 36.3 overall grade would have been the worst in the NFL if he had enough snaps to qualify. Following this disastrous season, Bleacher Report‘s Kristopher Knox believes it’s time for the team to give up on the veteran, and a few teams could roll the dice on him.

“Tennessee isn’t set to be a playoff contender in the near future, and Sneed will turn 29 in January,” Knox writes. “Sending him to a contender while he still has high trade value would be sensible, and the Tiatns could use additional capital to improve the supporting cast of rookie quarterback Cam Ward.”

Titans Urged to Trade L’Jarius Sneed After Disastrous Season

Possible Fits

Kansas City Chiefs

Why not? The Kansas City Chiefs have a strong secondary with lockdown cornerback Trent McDuffie and 2024 breakout Jaylen Watson, but you can never have too many reliable defenders. L’Jarius Sneed was at his best under head coach Andy Reid and defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, and they could get him in a trade for pennies on the dollar. Tennessee is on the hook for most of his guaranteed money, so why shouldn’t this team upgrade the secondary with a player they know fits the scheme?

Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys secondary has a lot of big names, but just as many question marks. TreVon Diggs needs to prove he can recapture his previous form following multiple seasons of injuries, and DaRon Bland didn’t look all too special last year. The Cowboys might not be able to afford a L’Jarius Sneed trade, considering they still need to pay Micah Parsons, but nobody loves taking low-risk gambles on big-name players more than Jerry Jones.

Los Angeles Chargers

The Los Angeles Chargers found something special in fifth-round pick Tarheeb Still, but he can’t lock down an entire offense all by himself. While the Chargers have Donte Jackson, Cam Hart, and Benjamin St-Juste set to battle for the starting job, they could swing for the fences and trade for L’Jarius Sneed. Jim Harbaugh excels at getting the best out of his players, so perhaps the two-time Super Bowl champion could salvage his career in a new environment.
