The Pittsburgh Steelers are officially getting cornerback Jalen Ramsey in a trade this offseason. According to the breaking news, the Steelers and Miami Dolphins made a huge exchange this week after where Pittsburgh will receive Ramsey and tight end Jonnu Smith. Meanwhile, the Dolphins got safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and a 2027 fifth-round pick. This was probably one of the most prominent blockbuster trades in NFL history, as it looks like the Steelers are building an old gridiron team in an attempt to possibly take the roster to a Super Bowl. Since signing quarterback Aaron Rodgers for at least a year, the Steelers are embracing an old look for the team, and it shouldn’t be surprising if the team continues to be sellers in the trade market.
The Steelers have two reliable cornerbacks in their secondary unit after signing Darius Slay earlier this offseason. This doesn’t leave a lot of room for someone like Trice to excel in this department anymore. Even though it’s still early in his career, it shouldn’t be surprising if the team continues to ship more players to build some draft capital, and they could do that with cornerback Cory Trice. Originally selected in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft, the former Purdue product didn’t get off on the right foot to begin his rookie season.
Trice has yet to put on a promising season, even though some reports believe he could have a breakout year in his third season. However, it might be hard to sell someone in the trade market, being that he has yet to prove in the league, but it shouldn’t be shocking if these four teams take a chance on the cornerback.

Possible Next Teams
Dallas Cowboys
Despite signing Robert Rochell this past week, the Dallas Cowboys are in dire need of a reliable starting cornerback. DaRon Bland is on the hot seat after coming off an unproductive 2024 campaign, but Trevon Diggs won’t be ready for week one. This means they will likely roll the dice on former first-round pick Kaiir Elam and 2025 draft pick Shavon Revel. Even though Diggs will return at some point, they can’t ensure he will make an impact, so they should probably get someone like Trice as a safety net for depth.
Los Angeles Chargers
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Chargers will look dramatically different in their secondary unit. Defensive Coordinator Jesse Minter did phenomenally well building a capable cornerback department, but since they lost Kristian Fulton, they will have to form a new chemistry between Donte Jackson and Benjamin St-Juste since signing both of them this offseason. While 2024 draft pick Cam Hart could be a potential starting cornerback for the team, they could take a flier on Trice to share the snaps.
Washington Commanders
However, the Washington Commanders have a bolstering offense, but the defense could use some work to make sure they are serious contenders. After losing Benjamin St-Juste this offseason, the team is rolling the dice on Jonathan Jones and bringing back Marshon Lattimore. Due to Lattimore’s injury history, they could trade for Trice as backup.
Carolina Panthers
After back-to-back offseasons of building a high-caliber offense for quarterback Bryce Young, the Carolina Panthers are finally making some serious moves on defense. The acquisition of Trevon Moehrig is a huge one to salvage the secondary room, but also re-signing Jaycee Horn and Michael Jackson to new contracts. It wou;dn’t hurt to add Trice since the Panthers did have one of the worst secondaries last season.
