Breaking: Rams Could Trade Former Super Bowl Veteran

August 10, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

Despite spending his entire career with the Los Angeles Rams, the team could trade long-time tight end Tyler Higbee before the 2025 regular season. According to Bleacher Report, they think it would be best for the Rams to make Higbee available for a trade, even though they’re not in the position to send any of their starting-caliber players. However, Higbee hasn’t been able to stay healthy and has been nursing an injury last season, so the Rams were operating well without him. Originally selected in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft, the former Western Kentucky product became one of the main contributors to Matthew Stafford’s pass-attack, but he’s been operating well without him.

After drafting Terrance Ferguson with the 45th pick of this year’s draft, this puts Higbee probably on the last thread before the Rams might have to decide to move on. Higbee is aging, and the Rams’ trading out of the first round of this past draft could be proof that in the next two years, they might be looking to get younger offensively. The tight end may get limited looks either way after signing Davante Adams to pair with Puka Nacua. Los Angeles has been leaning on Colby Parkinson while Higbee was recovering, and since Ferguson is coming in the mix, a trade wouldn’t be surprising.

Breaking: Rams Could Trade Former Super Bowl Veteran Tyler Higbee

Potential Next Teams

Baltimore Ravens

Despite losing Isaiah Likely to an injury, the Baltimore Ravens are still likely to move forward with him as the starter. Mark Andrews will play out his final year in his contract, so far from what it seems, but it doesn’t mean the Ravens can’t trade for another tight end. If they decide to let Andrews test the market, they should find a capable backup veteran replacement, and Higbee could fit in that scenario at the right budget.

Los Angeles Chargers

If any quarterback in the league loves throwing to his tight end unit, it’s quarterback Justin Herbert. Last year, he thrived by giving solid looks in the aerial attack to Will Dissly, which is why they signed Tyler Conklin this offseason. Herbert has two solid big guys to haul in the catches, so why not get a third? Higbee doesn’t need to be the most explosive out there, but share the snaps in certain moments, especially when he has the Super Bowl experience.

Dallas Cowboys

Meanwhile, the Dallas Cowboys found themselves targeting Jake Ferguson for the majority of their snaps. Even though they extended Ferguson, they could look to upgrade his depth chart behind him. Between Luke Schoonmaker and John Stephens, it’s anyone’s backup job for grabs. Higbee landing with the Cowboys gives Dak Prescott another deep threat that can team with Ferguson as a solid duo.

Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs will likely see Travis Kelce suit up for one more season this upcoming campaign. They haven’t found their next long-term option after Kelce decides to retire, so they could add a veteran for the time being until next year’s draft. Higbee won’t be Kelce 2.0, but he has the size and hands to be something similar.
