It will come down to a tough decision for the Carolina Panthers, but the team will likely cut wide receiver David Moore. According to a report, one source believes Moore could find himself just outside of the receiver logjam with the Panthers. After drafting Tetairoa McMillan and signing Hunter Renfrow in free agency, the Panthers brought themselves with too many capable wideouts that make the 53-man roster. Unfortunately, one of them will be on the brink of a release since the Panthers can’t keep all of them.
Between McMillan, Xavier Legette, Jalen Coker, Jimmy Horn Jr., Adam Thielen, Renfrow, this leaves Moore having to fight for the last possible spot if the Panthers desire to keep at least six receivers on the starting roster. Originally selected in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft, the former East Central product began his NFL journey with the Seattle Seahawks, hoping to become a reliable offensive weapon alongside long-time veteran Tyler Lockett. However, he hasn’t been able to exceed 500 receiving yards, but he has always found a way to stay with the team for four years, and Panthers head coach Dave Canales was his receiver coach in Seattle, so he could have some type of advantage here. No one should sleep on Renfrow either way since he had a couple of flashes just like Moore in this year’s preseason, so it will probably come down to the wire.

Next Possible Teams
Los Angeles Chargers
Even after signing veteran Keenan Allen to bring him back for insurance, the Los Angeles Chargers still do not have the best receiver group of talent in the league. When you have a quarterback like Justin Herbert, who is arguably a top 5 signal-caller, you must put him in the best position to win ball games. The team has a mixture of unproven and veteran talent that could somewhat give this Chargers offense a chance for a postseason, but nothing is guaranteed. While most of the attention has been on the run game, they should snag Moore if he becomes available and compete for a WR4 job to help Ladd McConkey, KeAndre-Lambert and Tre Harris build the next era of chemistry for Herbert.
Dallas Cowboys
Despite trading for George Pickens this offseason, the Dallas Cowboys should be in the market for another wide receiver after losing Jonathan Mingo to a brutal injury. Pickens and CeeDee Lamb will be a ferocious duo for Dak Prescott’s passing attack, but when you have someone like Jalen Tolbert, who is entering the final year of his contract, it’s best to add some depth behind him. Moore could join Mingo in Dallas and be a capable situational playmaker.
Minnesota Vikings
Meanwhile, the Minnesota Vikings are still in dire need of a wide receiver. Even after extending Justin Jefferson, they can’t afford for their second-year quarterback, JJ McCarthy, to lean on him for most of his passes. Jordan Addison won’t be back until at least Week 5, so they’re searching for a replacement. Moore isn’t your ideal WR2, but he’s a low-stakes investment that McCarthy can rely on as an extra body.
