Breaking: Chargers Cut Former First-Round Bust – 3 Possible Fits

September 10, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

After a short one-year stint with the Los Angeles Chargers, the team will move on and cut wide receiver Jalen Reagor from the practice squad. According to reports, the Chargers will cut Reagor as the two sides agreed on an injury settlement, which makes him a free agent, but he isn’t healthy. Originally selected in the 2020 NFL Draft, the former TCU product became one of the biggest draft busts in the league after the Philadelphia Eagles chose him over wide receiver and now Minnesota Viking, Justin Jefferson. Reagor hasn’t been able to live up to his potential, recording under 500 receiving yards each season that he’s been in the NFL.

It’s hard to imagine what the future holds for the wideout, but there should be some type of interest once he’s healthy again. Reagor isn’t going to sign soon, ever since his last opportunity with the Chargers last year, when they had a struggling passing offense and they were in dire need of another pass-catcher. He’s not a consistent weapon that’s going to change a roster drastically, so it’ll depend on what type of gas he has that he could provide for a future team’s offense. Earlier this offseason, Reagor re-signed a one-year contract to stay with the Chargers, but was first cut from the final roster changes and is now a free agent and can sign anywhere once he’s back to full health.

Breaking: Chargers Cut Former First-Round Bust Jalen Reagor – 3 Possible Fits

Potential Destinations

Dallas Cowboys

Even though the Dallas Cowboys have three capable receivers in CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens and Jalen Tolbert to help Dak Prescott make an impact on the field, they could be on the search for a WR4. After losing Jonathan Mingo while he nurses an injury, the Cowboys have yet to find a temporary replacement. Reagor isn’t the ideal receiver the Cowboys should be looking for, but it wouldn’t be surprising if the team takes a chance on him at some point. They could sign him at least on a low-stakes contract in the background while he develops on the practice squad once he becomes healthy.

Jerry Jones loves giving second chances, and this will be another opportunity for him to make a cheap investment in this wide receiver core group.

Cleveland Browns

Meanwhile, the Cleveland Browns might not be contenders, but they’re in dire need of depth in their receiver group. They need someone who will step up in the slot behind Jerry Jeudy and Cedric Tillman. Cleveland has some weapons, but they haven’t made any type of enough noise to prove they could be a difference-maker. Isaiah Bond may emerge as a starter for this passing attack, so they should plug in Reagor somewhere in that role as a contributor for veteran Joe Flacco.

Baltimore Ravens

If anyone in this league can bring out something in Reagor, it’s the Baltimore Ravens. The team has one of the most talented wide receivers between Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman and DeAndre Hopkins. However, Hopkins is trending down to his last five years left in the league of explosive production. Reagor probably won’t be a permanent starter, but it gives Lamar Jackson another body when healthy near the postseason.
