After overhauling the running back unit, the Los Angeles Chargers could trade former 2024 draft pick Kimani Vidal before the 2025 campaign begins. According to Bleacher Report, they believe the Chargers could send their RB3 to the Jacksonville Jaguars in a possible trade scenario. However, it wouldn’t make sense for the team to send him to Jacksonville since the Jaguars already have two running backs in Tank Bigsby and Travis Etienne. Despite that, it’s worth bringing up the idea that the Chargers could trade Vidal, which is interesting due to Najee Harris’ injury situation.
Harris suffered a firework injury this offseason and could miss the first four games of the regular season. This means that 2025 draft pick Omarion Hampton will receive a heavier workload, but he will need backup if head coach Jim Harbaugh wants a fast, solid run game. They can’t afford to put all their eggs in a basket for Hampton since he’s adjusting to the league, and as Harris could miss time, a trade sending Vidal might not make sense unless they receive another running back in return. While Hassan Haskins could emerge and fight for the RB2 job with Vidal, the Chargers should get a proven runner option that already has experience under his belt, so here are four teams that might make sense for Vidal if Los Angeles decides to part ways.

Washington Commanders
This trade makes all sense in the world for both sides. The Commanders are looking to get rid of Brian Robinson Jr. since emerging Jacory Croskey-Merritt has been impressing the team so much that he could be a starter come Week 1 of the 2025 regular season. Washington could receive Vidal and develop in the background behind veteran Austin Ekeler, while the Chargers get Robinson, who could serve as a reliable ball-hog RB2 paired with Hampton.
Dallas Cowboys
Since the Dallas Cowboys have too many running backs, but most of them are unproven, the team should be in the market for a scenery change. Miles Sanders and Javonte Williams were probably one of the worst signings for the Cowboys this offseason as far as finding a reliable backfield piece. 2025 draft pick Jaydon Blue will likely get the start, but he will need backup. Vidal showed a few flashes in the preseason and could fight for the backup job between Williams and Deuce Vaughn while the Chargers receive Sanders.
New Orleans Saints
Despite having one of the best running backs in Alvin Kamara, the New Orleans Saints could do better in the depth chart of their backfield unit. Between Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Cam Akers and Kendre Miller, they have plenty of value to send to the Chargers. Perhaps, they could trade away Miller and Edwards-Helaire in exchange for Vidal.
Kansas City Chiefs
Meanwhile, the Kansas City Chiefs have a ton of talent at the running back position, but there’s some improvement left. Veteran Kareem Hunt re-signed a new deal to stay in Kansas City, while Isiah Pacheco has to turn things around this season since he suffered a brutal injury last year that led him to miss some games. Unless they want to send Elijah Mitchell in a trade, their best bet might be to trade away Hunt in exchange for Vidal so they have him and Brashard Smith to develop while the top two options in Kansas City are Pacheco and Mitchell.
