Poona Ford, Los Angeles Rams, Agree to Contract
After a slow 2023, Poona Ford bounced back with a strong season in 2024. Signing a one-year deal with the Chargers, the veteran started all 17 games while recording one interception, three sacks, 39 tackles, eight tackles-for-loss, and nine quarterback hits. With his help, the team earned a Wild Card spot in the first year of the Jim Harbaugh Era but went one-and-done against C.J. Stroud and the Houston Texans.
Poona Ford originally entered the league as an undrafted free agent following the 2018 NFL Draft. Signing with the Seattle Seahawks, the Texas product made the Week 1 53-man roster but spent most of his rookie season in a reserve role. Appearing in 11 games, Ford finished his inaugural campaign with 21 tackles, three tackles-for-loss, two quarterback hits, and no sacks.
Ford parlayed his promising rookie season into a full-time starting job in 2019. Appearing in 15 games while making 14 starts, Ford recorded 0.5 sacks, 32 tackles, five tackles-for-loss, and three quarterback hits while on the field.
Poona Ford maintained his starting job and signed a two-year contract extension in 2021. He played out the remainder of his deal and finished his time in Seattle with 7.5 sacks, 181 tackles, 28 tackles-for-loss, and 27 quarterback hits.
Following his five years in Seattle, Ford joined the Buffalo Bills on a one-year deal. Unfortunately, the veteran struggled in the new environment, appearing in eight games without making a start while recording one sack, nine tackles, one tackle-for-loss, and three quarterback hits.
Since signing his rookie contract, Poona Ford has appeared in 101 games while making 81 starts. When on the field, the Texas product recorded 11.5 sacks, 229 tackles, 37 tackles-for-loss, and 39 quarterback hits.
