After waking up from an induced coma USC five-star recruit Alijah Arenas is expected to make a full recovery from a dangerous vehicle crash.
Arenas, son of former NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas, was involved in a single car crash on Thursday morning. He was later transported to the hospital and placed into an induced coma due to the inhalation of smoke from reportedly crashing into a tree and/or fire hydrant. Since waking up from his coma, Arenas has made steady progress and is expected to recover without any major injuries, according to a statement made on Gilbert Arenas’ podcast.
“Happy to announce that Alijah is doing much better,” co-host Josiah Johnson said during the show on Sunday. “Just got off the phone with Gil. … Alijah’s doing better, walking, talking, progressing very well, should be released from the hospital very soon. No major injuries as a result of the car accident.”
There has been no official cause to the crash reported.
Arenas was recently ranked as the No. 7 prospect in On3’s final rankings of the 2025 recruiting class. The McDonald’s All-American will headline USC’s new roster as a five-star recruit following a remarkable recovery from a scary accident.
