It looks like Chip Kelly is pretty determined to leave college football–or UCLA at least.
The Bruins’ head coach is a “potential candidate” for the offensive coordinator vacancy with the NFL’s Washington Commanders, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
This repot comes after it was said by several writers that Kelly interviewed twice for the offensive coordinator role with the Las Vegas Raiders. New Las Vegas head coach Antonio Pierce ultimately hired Kliff Kingsbury for the position.
“Kelly, a two-time NFL head coach, is believed to have interest in returning to the league and Washington will consider talking with him,” Fowler tweeted Thursday night.

Last month, CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones reported that Kelly, who has come under fan scrutiny in Westwood of late, was being considered as a coordinator option by “multiple” head coaching candidates.
Overall, Kelly, 60, is 35-34 at UCLA, though he has gone 25-13 over the last three seasons after starting 10-21 in his first three.
The Oregon head coach from 2009-12, Kelly was also the head coach of the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles (2013-15) and San Francisco 49ers (2016).
