UCLA is one of several longtime Pac-12 programs migrating to the Big Ten for the 2024-25 season.
In preparation for the move, UCLA announced Wednesday that it will be expanding “The Den,” its student section at the Rose Bowl.
As a result, 1,000 UCLA students will have the opportunity to sit in parts of Sections 2-6 at the iconic venue, putting them along the East sideline, close to the 50-yard line and directly behind the opponents’ bench.
This move will make UCLA the only school in the Big Ten to put its students directly behind the opposing team, theoretically creating a greater home field advantage.
“By moving closer to the action, our new student section will further elevate the in-game experience for students and student-athletes alike. Every eight clap will mean that much more — and give our Bruins an even stronger home-field advantage,” said Den president Nick Brown.
The new seating will be available to the first 1,000 students to arrive at the Rose Bowl on game days.
UCLA is one of four institutions joining the Big Ten in 2024, along with Washington, Oregon and USC.
The Bruins’ first Big Ten home game will be against Indiana on Sept. 14, and UCLA will also host Oregon, Iowa, USC and Minnesota in league play.
Program legend DeShaun Foster has been hired as the Bruins’ new head coach following the departure of Chip Kelly.
