The continued excellence of Colorado’s versatile wide receiver and cornerback Travis Hunter really makes you wonder if he’d be in the Heisman Trophy conversation were it not for his recent injury.
In the middle of the first quarter of today’s game against UCLA, Hunter – serving as a cornerback on a defensive play – made an incredible interception on quarterback Ethan Garbers. He fully extended and was able to get just enough of his arm under the ball to keep the replay officials from overturning the call.
It’s hardly the first big play that Hunter has made on defense – or offense for that matter. But this one felt different.
Fans on X went wild after seeing the play. Just about everyone agrees on one thing: Travis Hunter is a special ballplayer.

Travis Hunter is third on the Buffaloes in receiving yards with 353 in just four games. On defense, he’s tied for second on the team with two interceptions.
It remains to be seen what kind of player Hunter might be if he takes his talents to the pro ranks. He has the potential to be a star on either offense or defense or even both if he continues to play this way.
Will Hunter’s skills translate to the NFL?
